Hibiscus HR — User Guide
Welcome to the official documentation for Hibiscus HR, the HR platform built from the ground up for Canadian small and medium businesses.
This guide covers every module, every screen, and every action available in the platform. Whether you are an HR administrator setting up the platform for the first time, a payroll manager running bi-weekly pay, or a manager approving a leave request, you will find step-by-step instructions here.
What is Hibiscus HR?
Hibiscus HR is an all-in-one HR platform designed specifically for Canadian businesses. Unlike US-first platforms that bolt on Canadian compliance as an afterthought, Hibiscus HR was built around Canadian employment law from day one — CPP, EI, ESA, ROE, PIPEDA, and provincial employment standards for all ten provinces.

The platform is PCI compliant via Helcim — card data never touches Hibiscus HR servers. All payment processing is handled by Helcim's PCI-DSS Level 1 certified infrastructure.
Who this guide is for
Hibiscus HR uses a role-based access system. Your role determines which modules you can access and what actions you can take:

| Super Admin | Full access to all modules and settings, billing management |
| HR Admin | All modules except system-level settings and billing |
| Payroll Admin | Payroll, Reports, Employees (read-only) |
| Manager | Leave approvals, Time & Attendance for their team, read-only Reports |
| Employee | Self-service onboarding portal, personal profile, leave requests |
| Broker | Read-only benefits access, enrollment data, enrollment CSV download |
Most instructions in this guide are written from the perspective of an HR Admin or Super Admin. Where a feature is role-restricted, it is noted.
